LOSING WEIGHT
"Losing Weight" is Elle's single which was released on June 19th and is a song that dips into the concept that losing weight is deeper than shedding physical pounds, it's mental and emotional too. "Losing Weight" is about learning to let go and shedding the weight of an unsatisfactory relationship. Ryerson sings of being consumed by a relationship and her need to find something better. "I actually got the song idea from someone on Facebook," she reveals "I was looking for advice from strangers on the internet, which may not be the best move, but I didn't know how to proceed in a relationship and someone told me I should practice putting less weight on it. Suddenly, I had this idea."
LIP GLOSS
Elle Ryerson’s “Lip Gloss” is a perfect example of her acoustic pop style. Sassy but real lyrics tell of a relationship that wasn’t working, that Elle didn’t want, but as the person moves on, and chooses someone else she’s suddenly jealous. Ryerson doesn’t think of the song as a serious one “I think that jealousy brings out the worst in people,” she says “this song was more just fun though, like just messing around with the word lip gloss and the feelings it brings. I can definitely get jealous, this was my way to play with that emotion in a chill way.”
SUMMER CLOTHES
"Summer Clothes" Is Elle debut EP about growing up and letting go. "I actually started with a song called Summer Clothes, I didn't wind up actually using it on the EP but it gave me the idea for the kind of theme I wanted to follow. I was supposed to move away this year, it didn't happen because of COVID, but I liked the idea of packing up all my summer clothes and moving onto the next part of my life."
"Summer Clothes" features six tracks with a range of themes following things like: growing up, American politics, obsessive relationships and sexism.
